„Hey man, das ist doch öffentlicher Raum!“ David, Tino,
Elyas und Achim besetzen den Stadtraum auf ihre Art: mit
Graffiti markieren sie Territorien und Grenzen. Forian Gaag
erzählt authentisch die Geschichte einer Crew von vier
jugendlichen Sprayern, die sich der Szene mit ihren ganz
eigenen Werten, Regeln und Codes verschrieben haben.
Es geht um Freundschaft und um eine Leidenschaft, die
größer ist als jede Vernunft. Als eine andere Crew in der
Stadt auftaucht, entbrennt ein Kampf um Ehre und Style.
Es bleiben Fragen: Was ist Graffiti? Ist es Kunst? Oder die
markante Kommunikationsform einer breiten Subkultur?
Oder vielleicht doch mehrheitlich das optische Geschrei
unerzogener Kinder und damit Sachbeschädigung? ‘Hey
man, this is public space!’ – David, Tino, Elyas, and Achim
appropriate urban space in their own way: they mark
their territories and boundaries with graffiti. Florian Gaag’s
authentic film tells the story of a group of four young
sprayers who are part of the graffiti scene, but have their
own specific values, rules, and codes. It’s about friendship
and passion breaking the bounds of reason. When another
crew turns up in town, a battle is unleashed to defend
honour and style. Questions remain: what is graffiti? Is it
art? Or a broad subculture’s distinctive mode of communication?
Or maybe it just represents the visual tantrum of
badly behaved children, and, therefore, damage to property,
as the majority would have it?
