increasing; Latin, from augeo, to augment, increase, elevate.<br />

AUE.ELIUS, the golden one, one most excellent; <strong>German</strong>ice,<br />

goldener— F, Pichler. Latin, derived from aurum, gold,<br />

hence aureus, golden.<br />

BALTHASAR, Balthas, Baltzer, Baldis, counselor <strong>of</strong> war;<br />

<strong>German</strong>ice, Kriegsrath—F. Pichler. It may be derived from<br />

the Gothic haltha, daring, bold, audacious; Anglo-Saxon,<br />

heald, bald, bold. lornandes, in defining this word, gives its<br />

Latin synonymn thus, baltha, audax, as audax viribus,<br />
