8User-friendly: On May 1 a new amendment to the German packaging
regulation took effect. As a consequence, merchants are
now required to take one-way beverage packaging back, even if
the product was not purchased from them. TÜV Rheinland certifies
not only the container return machines, but also the container
manufacturers and label printers. Danone Waters Deutschland
GmbH was one of the first to have their European label printers
certified by TÜV Rheinland Group. The deposit markings are
print ed using a special UV ink either directly on the beverage can
or on the bottle label. Only certified can manufacturers and label
printers are allowed to use this security ink, as each label is worth
25 cents. Certification and the use of special ink for printing labels
are intended to prevent misuse. In addition, it must be ensured
that the container return machines can read the respective labels
quickly and reliably.

utility billing services company
Abrechnungsgesellschaft für
Ver- und Entsorger (A/V/E) in
Halle/Saale developed a special
personnel training course for
their staff. There employ ees
learned techniques stress ing
competence and conflict resolution
for dealing with custom ers.
TÜV Rheinland Group then tested
the employees. Now the certified
overall concept – a twostage
training program with potential
analysis and final test –
can also be used by other utilities
companies.

switches to ensure accident-free
travel. This means the software

supplier for weak spots.
