Practical Advantages
The PSI Audio speakers featuring the AOI
system have superior impulse behaviour
to traditional amplifi er designs. Whilst the
transducer travels to its intended position,
the AOI circuitry seamlessly adapts the
amplifi ers output impedance to ensure ideal
acceleration of the membrane to reproduce
the desired impulse. Once the transducer
reaches the end of the impulse, the AOI
circuitry provides a break in order to act
against an overshooting of the transducer.

The PSI Audio A214-M is mainly designed as a centre speaker for surround monitoring
applications. However, the unit may also be used as a basic component for all monitoring

The A214-M employs two woofers of 147/104mm and one tweeter of 100/25mm, for a
programme power-handling of 160W. The speaker has suffi cient acoustical output to satisfy
the requirements of post-production and fi lm mixing suites, as well as for other mixing
applications.
The low height of the A214-M (166mm) allows the speaker to easily be incorporated into
surround installations where space is an important factor.

a nice side effect of the AOI system is
that the membranes of a PSI speaker do
not produce parasitic sounds when other
speaker systems in the room are in use.
When air pressure changes due to other
sound sources, the AOI will detect this and
tighten the damping of its transducers
in order not to produce parasitic sounds
(sounds not present at the input). In today’s
times where much more importance
is given to the low end reproduction of
sounds, especially when using sub woofer
technology in surround sound systems,
the importance of a monitoring system
that has an accurate, and not a fl attering,
reproduction becomes essential. As a result
of the AOI, the PSI Audio speaker range has
a highly accurate impulse behaviour, with a
minimum of transducer coloration.
