Full Sixth or Seventh Semester is meant <strong>for</strong> Industrial Training<br />
Purpose ¨<br />
PTU/BOS/ME/101/10-06-2005/BATCH-2003<br />
To expose engineering students to technology development at work<br />
places and appraise them regarding shop-floor problems ¨<br />
To provide practical experience in solving open ended problems in real<br />
work setting so as to cause transfer of college based knowledge and<br />
skills to solve practical problems and thereby develop confidence in the<br />
students in the analysis, synthesis and evaluation of practical problems<br />
leading to creative thinking<br />
Programme<br />
During this work bench involvement, students will be given 3-4 practical<br />
problems. The problems assigned should be of mutual interest to the<br />
students and the industry. The problem may belong to 3 or 4 different<br />
functional areas. To illustrate, following are some of the suggestions: ¨<br />
Design of a prototype<br />
¨ Programming of CNC machines<br />
¨ Calibration and testing of instruments<br />
¨ Productivity Improvement Studies<br />
¨ Pollution control related problems<br />
¨ Capacity Planning and Capital Budgeting<br />
¨ Safety Management<br />
¨ Optimum utilization of resources<br />
¨ Conflict Management<br />
