History Is Fun for “Groups of All Ages” at <strong>Jamestown</strong> Settlement<br />
Enhance your group’s experience by viewing the film, touring gallery exhibits and outdoor livinghistory<br />
areas or participating in a hands-on program. Adult/multigenerational groups may consider<br />
a Legacy Learning or a Gallery Sampler Tour. Student educational groups choose from curriculumbased<br />
guided tours and hands-on programs — all taught by trained educators, adapted to<br />
specific grade levels and designed to meet Virginia Standards of Learning/U.S. History standards.<br />

GROUP VIsITs<br />
Guided Tour I An overview of <strong>Jamestown</strong> colony, the cultural origins and interactions of the<br />
Powhatan Indian, English and west central Africans in 17th-century Virginia. Tour indoor galleries<br />
and outdoor living-history areas. (2½ hours)<br />
Government and Leadership Guided Tour I Highlights leadership among the Powhatan Indian,<br />
English and west central African cultures and the development of representative government in<br />
early colonial Virginia. Tour galleries and re-creations of a Powhatan Indian village, 1607 ships and<br />
1610-14 fort. (2 hours)<br />
Hands-On History Educational Program I A structured tour and hands-on activities offer a deeper<br />
understanding and appreciation of 1600s life by exploring historical topics through role-playing<br />
and examination of illustrations and reproduction artifacts. Programs include: Life at <strong>Jamestown</strong>,<br />
Powhatan Indian World, Cultures at <strong>Jamestown</strong> or Voyage to Virginia. (2½ hours)<br />
Guided Sampler Tour I Choose a Gallery Sampler Tour, highlighting key aspects of the <strong>Jamestown</strong><br />
story, or Living-History Sampler Tour of the outdoor areas. (1 hour)<br />
Legacy Learning Hands-On Program I Adult/multigenerational groups (50% adults) participate in<br />
a one-hour classroom program followed by a guided or self-guided tour of galleries, film and livinghistory<br />
areas. Arrange to dine in the <strong>Jamestown</strong> Settlement Café or your classroom.<br />
Self-Guided Visit I View film and tour galleries and living-history areas. (2 hours)<br />
