Autodesk applauds this year’s faculty members—dozens of dedicated<br />
instructors, authors, and business professionals who present the classes,<br />
labs, and sessions that represent the very heart of Autodesk University.<br />
These seasoned professionals educate and inform us and help us advance<br />
the state of the art in our industries.<br />
Jeanne Aarhus<br />
Jeanne has been working with CAD in mapping<br />
and AEC since the early 1980s. She has<br />
experience in many CAD-related fields including<br />
production drawing, coordination, end-user<br />
support, programming, and training for PC- and<br />
UNIX-based CAD applications. She has conducted<br />
seminars and workshops on CAD productivity for<br />
managers and users in both corporate and college<br />
settings, as well as for many user groups. Jeanne<br />
is known for her real-world approach to learning.<br />
Dan Abbott<br />
Dan Abbott has been involved with technical<br />
education for more than 20 years, the past 14 of<br />
which have been as a member of the Technical<br />
Graphics Department at Southern Maine<br />
Technical College. Dan trains industry professionals<br />
in AutoCAD ® use and management, and in<br />
geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. He has<br />
been a member of the Autodesk exam board and<br />
continues to work with Knowledge Development<br />
Solutions to create technical exams for Autodesk<br />
and other companies. He earned M.S. and B.S.<br />
degrees in Industrial Technology from the<br />
University of Southern Maine, and a B.A. degree<br />
in Psychology from Swarthmore College.<br />
Reid Addis<br />
Reid, formerly of Addis Computer Consultants, is<br />
currently responsible for supporting 60 users of<br />
Autodesk ® Architectural Desktop and 3D Studio<br />
VIZ ® at Granary Associates in Philadelphia.<br />
Previously, Reid managed a CAD consulting firm<br />
for architects and engineers for 13 years.<br />
Gregory Alevras<br />
Gregory has been with ARCHIBUS, Inc. for 12<br />
years, the last 6 of which as manager of business<br />
development. He works with partners and clients<br />
to implement Computer-Integrated Facility<br />
Management (CIFM) systems. Before joining<br />
ARCHIBUS, he worked as a facilities manager for<br />
almost 10 years in facilities planning and layout<br />
of manufacturing and research space, with<br />
responsibility for managing capital and expense<br />
budgets for renovation and new construction.<br />
Joan Allen, P.E.<br />
Joan is senior product manager of Autodesk ®<br />
Buzzsaw ® .She has more than 13 years of<br />
experience in construction project management<br />
in both public works and private construction.<br />
Prior to joining buzzsaw.com in 1999, Joan was a<br />
construction manager for the East Bay Municipal<br />
Utility District’s seismic improvement program.<br />
She previously worked as senior project manager<br />
for Dynamic Isolation Systems, a designer and<br />
manufacturer of earthquake isolators for buildings<br />
and bridges. Prior to that, she served as a<br />
construction engineer/project manager for<br />
Pacific Gas & Electric. Joan is a registered civil<br />
engineer, and holds a B.S. degree in Civil<br />
Engineering from the University of California at<br />
Berkeley.<br />
Lynn Allen<br />
Lynn is the Technical Evangelist for Autodesk. She<br />
has contributed to CADENCE magazine for the<br />
past 10 years. Her “Circles and Lines” column was<br />
the most frequently read section of the magazine.<br />
Lynn is also the author of two books, the latest<br />
being AutoCAD ® 2002 Inside and Out. She has<br />
taught at the college and corporate level for 14<br />
years. Lynn’s unique combination of technical<br />
knowledge, quick wit, and personable style make<br />
her much sought-after as a public speaker.<br />
Emlyn Altman<br />
Emlyn is well known for her expertise in computeraided<br />
lighting design and 3D visualization. She<br />
presented workshops at two Lightfair<br />
International conferences, and spoke at local<br />
Illuminating Engineering Society chapter meetings<br />
in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Milwaukee, and<br />
Baltimore. One of the first recipients of an<br />
Autodesk iDesign Worldwide Award, her work<br />
has been seen in publications such as The New<br />
York Times, The Washington Post, Display & Design<br />
Ideas, Landscape Architecture, Washington Flyer<br />
Magazine & Travel Guide and the 2003 TV<br />
documentary Silver Spring: Story of an American<br />
Suburb.<br />
David Ashcroft, P.E.<br />
David is a registered engineer practicing in the<br />
State of California. He owns and operates<br />
Engineering Consulting Group, a small firm located<br />
in Solana Beach, California that provides civil,<br />
structural engineering, and consulting services.<br />
David has been a registered Autodesk ® AEC<br />
Consultant with authorization for civil/survey,<br />
structural, and imaging. He has 18 years of<br />
experience in the design and project management<br />
of public works and private-sector projects such<br />
as water transmission and distribution facilities,<br />
water storage reservoirs, dams, weirs, large and<br />
small diameter sewerage collection facilities, and<br />
pump stations.<br />
Paul F. Aubin, Associate AIA<br />
Paul is the author of Mastering Autodesk ®<br />
Architectural Desktop, and Autodesk ® Architectural<br />
Desktop: an Advanced Implementation Guide,both<br />
published by Autodesk ® Press. He is an associate<br />
with Consulting for Architects, Inc. (CFA). He<br />
serves as the moderator for CADENCE magazine’s<br />
online “CAD Questions Forum” and has spoken at<br />
AU for the past 3 years. Paul is also an Autodesk ®<br />
Certified Instructor (ACI), and an associate member<br />
of AIA. The combination of his experiences in<br />
architectural practice, as a CAD manager, and an<br />
instructor gives his writing and instruction a<br />
fresh and credible focus.<br />
James Balding, AIA<br />
Jim is a licensed architect with 15-plus years of<br />
experience <strong>integr</strong>ating technology into the<br />
architectural field. He is currently employed with<br />
Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo (WATG) in Newport<br />
Beach. He has been a member of the Autodesk ®<br />
Revit ® Client Advisory board since its inaugural<br />
meeting and is currently serving as the Revit<br />
Product Chair for AUGI ® .He has developed a<br />
successful Autodesk Revit implementation<br />
strategy and has spent the past year bringing the<br />
seven offices of WATG up to speed in its use.<br />
