THAT I WAS FIRST ACQUAINTED
WITH TOLL LOGISTICS (ASIA)
LIMITED, FORMALLY KNOWN AS
SEMBAWANG KIMTRANS LTD.
IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A
RENOWNED SUPPORTER OF
NATIONAL SERVICE AND EVENTS, A LAUDABLE AND EXEMPLARY
MOVE OF A CORPORATE ORGANISATION.
The invitation by the NDP Executive Committee to participate this year, as
one of the only seven companies to march, indeed is another milestone of the
Logistics Industry as we register our contribution in bolstering the economic
growth and development in Singapore and also the regions around.
I am indeed honoured to lead and to be part of the marching contingent
representing our company in this national event. With the strong support
of our management team and fellow colleagues, we were able to
smoothly and efficiently assemble a 71-person contingent. At the time of
writing we were already half way through the initial preparation and
rehearsal, thereby, we will be moving to the actual parade venue at the
Marina Bay to carry out the final combined rehearsals on 8 June, 2008.
In the month of July, we are expected to take part in three National

PART OF THE US$200,000 HUMANITARIAN AID PACKAGE
ANNOUNCED BY THE SINGAPORE GOVERNMENT – TO CYCLONE-HIT
MYANMAR ON 7 MAY 2008.
ST Logistics (Toll Asia’s government business arm), was activated by
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is acting on behalf of the Singapore
Government to prepare Humanitarian Aid (HA) to be sent to Myanmar
at the earliest opportunity after Myanmar was hit by cyclone Nargis.
Immediately, ST Logistics sourced and packed the HA’s items and
coordinated for the HA’s cargoes to be air-freighted to Yangon

Education (NE) shows which were allocated for school children,
Full-Dressed Rehearsal preview and on the D-day, 9 August, 2008,
which marks Singapore’s 43rd Birthday.
Through participating in the NDP rehearsals, I have had the chance to
develop greater rapport with my fellow colleagues. I have also fostered
closer relationships and ties with friends from our Toll (Asia) sister
companies – ST Logistics and Singapore Offshore Petroleum Services
(SOPS) who are also participating in this special event.
The morale of the contingent is superb and we will continue to work hard
to fly the Toll flag high, and do the company proud as we celebrate the
National Day.

I am the youngest member of the
contingent. Many of my seniors
take care of me during training
and I feel appreciated and have a
great sense of belonging to the
group. This is my first time
participating in the National Day
Parade (NDP) and I am honoured to be representing my company.
Through my NDP experience, I’ve learned values, such as, discipline and
care for others. In the case of NPD, we need to follow commands and

From the journey, I understand that NDP is not just a date – 9 August,
but of a lot of time, resources and perspiration that are put in each and
every year for the preparation to ensure the success of this Big Day.

NDP is an annual event where
most Singaporeans would want
to participate, either as a
spectator or participant. This
year, Toll Logistics (Asia) has the
privilege to be part of the NDP
celebrations and I am honoured
to be part of the team. From the
first meeting and short rehearsal
at our company’s car park to the
weekend rehearsals at Nee Soon camp, we have had a lot of fun and
laughter. We have the opportunity to meet new friends from other
contingents, such as: People’s Action Party (PAP), SembCorp, ERA and
National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Last weekend, with the addition
of the students’ uniform groups joining the rehearsal, I am happy to
witness this ‘NDP Family’ increasing in size. I would like to thank all the
trainers for their dedication and patience and I am looking forward to the
rehearsal on the ‘floating platform’ soon.
Toll Donates to Sichuan,
China’s 8.0 Magnitude
Earthquake Aid
THE 2008 SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS
THE GREAT SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE OR THE WENCHUAN
EARTHQUAKE) IS BELIEVED TO BE ONE OF THE DEADLIEST AND
STRONGEST EARTHQUAKES TO EVER HIT CHINA. THIS 8.0 MAGNITUDE
EARTHQUAKE HAS RESULTED IN ABOUT 69,000 DEAD, ABOUT 380,000
INJURED, ABOUT 19,000 LISTED AS MISSING AND HAS LEFT
4.8 MILLION PEOPLE HOMELESS. FORTUNATELY, NO MEMBER OF OUR
CHINESE OPERATIONS WERE INJURED IN THIS HORRIFIC EVENT.
Immediately, the employees of Toll’s operations in China, ST-Anda
organised a donation campaign in China with a total of S$25,000 being
raised. On May 20, 2008, Toll Singapore also organised an internal fundraising
to help victims of the Sichuan earthquake as part of our Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The total amount of donation collected
was S$7,262; which has been channelled to the Red Cross Society for
putting towards relief operations.
Pacorini Toll also contributed another US$10,000 (about S$13,626) directly
to the China Embassy to aid the rescue efforts. Altogether approximately
S$46,000 was raised – hopefully these donations will assist in bringing
some temporary relief to the victims in Sichuan, China. Toll and its
subsidiaries believe in helping the communities wherever we operate.

Rebuild Indonesian
Village Destroyed by Fire
A FIRE RAVAGED A LITTLE VILLAGE IN KOTABARU, KALIMANTAN
IN INDONESIA, WHERE TOLL LOGISTICS OPERATES FOUR
BARGES THAT DELIVER COAL FROM MINE SITES TO THE PORT AT
KOTABARU. SOME 400 HOUSES WERE DESTROYED IN THE FIRE
WHICH ALSO LEFT SOME 1200 PEOPLE HOMELESS.
To assist the villagers who have lost their homes and belongings in the
massive fire, Toll Logistics recently donated 10,000,000 Indonesian
rupiah (equivalent to approximately AU$1600) to the community.
Said Wayne Hunt, President CEO of Toll Logistics – Asia, "While the
amount may not seem very much to us, it went a long way in helping
the villagers get their lives back together again. In these areas, the
villagers lead frugal lives and they do not require very much money to
rebuild their homes."
This donation is but one of the many efforts undertaken by Toll
Logistics - Asia and its subsidiaries to help the communities wherever
we operate.
