The hypotonic musculature indicates an increased dissolving tendency.<br />
Involuntary Movements<br />
Often, during periods with rising temperature, there are involuntary cold chills <strong>and</strong><br />
chattering teeth. Shivering is a temporary motor hyperactivity which supports production of<br />
the necessary extra warmth. Shivering is what the organism does physiologically to raise its<br />
temperature. The rise in temperature is achieved through involuntary muscular movements<br />
that lack coordination <strong>and</strong> coherence. There are, at the same time, few voluntary movements.<br />
It is not unusual that patients, while awake, lie restlessly tossing <strong>and</strong> turning because they<br />
cannot seem to get comfortable in any position. The motoric restlessness is also part of<br />
the involuntary movement pattern. There is a loss of form in the movement pattern, which<br />
could be described as an increased dissolving tendency in the sense of fig.2.4.<br />
Reaction to Motor Stimuli<br />
The tossing <strong>and</strong> turning indicates that the patient does experience motor stimuli from his<br />
body; however, there is a general lack of movement <strong>and</strong> the stimuli that are present do not<br />
result in a focused movement. The reaction to motor stimuli is diminished.<br />
