Environmental Education and Sustainable Development<br />
Aspects of environmental education and sustainable development occur in relation to reducing the impact of<br />
Biotechnology/Gene Technology and Organisms in the Environment/Evolutionary and Conservation Ecology.<br />
Aspects of environmental education and sustainable development are covered throughout the syllabus.<br />
European and <strong>International</strong> Dimension<br />
There are opportunities in this syllabus to investigate local, national and international contributions to the<br />
subject field and to appreciate the global significance and impact of Biology.<br />
Avoidance of Bias<br />
CIE has taken great care in the preparation of this syllabus and assessment materials to avoid bias of any<br />
kind.<br />
Key skills<br />
This syllabus provides opportunities for the development of the Key Skills of Communication, Application of<br />
Number, Information Technology, Working with Others, Improving Own Learning and Performance and<br />
Problem Solving at Level 3. However, the extent to which this evidence fulfils the Key Skills criteria at this<br />
level will be totally dependent on the style of teaching and learning adopted for each section.<br />
The following table indicates where opportunities may exist for at least some coverage of the various Key<br />
Skills criteria at Level 3 for each section.<br />
