1/2 yd main fabric<br />
1/2 yd contrasting fabric<br />
4 cones of Maxi Lock thread to match<br />
contrasting fabric<br />
Decorative thread (optional)<br />
1 1/4 yd cord or rat tail to make piping<br />
1 1/3 yd ribbon or cord for drawstring<br />
Huskylock 905, 910 or 936<br />
Piping Foot #2141012408<br />

Low loft crib size quilt bat<br />
CUT:<br />
Main fabric:<br />
One 11” wide X 17” long<br />
Two 2” wide X 17” long<br />
Two 6” wide X 18” long<br />
Contrasting fabric:<br />
Two strips 2 1/4” wide by width of fabric<br />
Bias, enough to make 1 yd. (cut 1 1/4” wide)<br />
CONSTRUCTION:<br />
Pin tucks<br />
1. Set Huskylock for a three thread rolled edge<br />
i. Adjust Stitch Length to 0.8<br />
ii. Adjust Stitch Width to 6.5 (dot is the mark)<br />
iii. Tighten lower looper to 7<br />
2. Fold 11”X17” main fabric in half lengthwise.<br />
3. Press crease in center.<br />
4. Stitch a rolled edge along the crease to create a pin tuck.<br />
5. Align left side of presser foot against pin tuck and stitch another pin tuck.<br />
6. Stitch 2 pin tucks on each side of center pin tuck.<br />

Shirring<br />
End piece<br />
Piping<br />
1. Set Huskylock for 3 thread narrow overlock. (wide 3 thread may be used)<br />
2. Attach the shirring foot.<br />
3. Adjust Huskylock for shirring: set differential 2.0 – 2.5 and stitch length to 3.0<br />
4. Using the shirring foot, gather each contrasting strip along both long sides.<br />
5. Set the serger for 4 thread overlock. (Remember to reset differential, stitch length and<br />
put on the S foot)<br />
6. With right sides together, stitch shirred strips to each side of the pintucked main fabric.<br />
7. Stitch the 2” strip of main fabric to the other side of each shirred strip.<br />
1. Using a 4 thread overlock stitch, finish the two ends of each remaining piece of main<br />
fabric.<br />
2. Press to the wrong side approx. 3/4” on each edge you just serge finished. The<br />
resulting piece should measure 16 1/2”.<br />
3. Fold strip in half lengthwise so raw edges meet with wrong sides together.<br />
1. Snap on the Piping Foot.<br />
2. Fold bias fabric over cord and stitch using 4 thread overlock.<br />
3. Insert piping between end of main pillow piece and raw edge of end piece.<br />
4. Using a 4 thread overlock, and the piping foot, stitch piping in place.<br />
Finishing pillow<br />
1 Fold pillow with right sides together, matching ends of puffing strips and piping.<br />
2 Using 4 thread overlock settings, start serging just before the piping and stitch to just past<br />
the piping at the other end. The left needle will line up with the folded edge of the end of the<br />
pillow piece.<br />
3 Insert a drawstring into the casing.<br />
4 Roll batting to the correct size to fill your pillow.<br />
5 Draw up the drawstring and tie into place.<br />
6 End may be trimmed with a button, tassel, bow, etc.<br />
