Trailhead Trail entrance with parking.<br />

Junction or Trail An intersection with another trail or road. Name other trail or road in description if<br />

Pull<strong>of</strong>f Space beside a road used to pull <strong>of</strong>f <strong>and</strong> park or turn around.<br />

Bootleg Trail Intersection with new unknown trail.<br />

Social trail Well established trail to private property<br />

Old road bed Dual track road, usually unsurfaced, not used frequently for vehicles.<br />

ATV track Signs that ATV has been making its own path.<br />

Road Path for vehicular access, such as powerline maintenance.<br />

Sign Trail Sign in existence or needed. Note verbage or take a picture.<br />

Privy Sanitary facility near trail.<br />

Kiosk Bulletin board for user information.<br />

Picnic Table<br />

Building/structure Building, shelter or lean-to. State building purpose if known.<br />

Bench Constructed seat near trail.<br />

Tree St<strong>and</strong> Platform or hunting structure in a tree.<br />

Fireplace Stone or built fireplace for cooking outdoors<br />

EC Erosion Control needed: water bar, rolling dip, deberm<br />

Water Bar Log, stone, or rubber installed across trail to divert water <strong>of</strong>f trail.<br />

Berm Outside edge <strong>of</strong> trail is higher than center <strong>of</strong> tread, trapping water.<br />

Rolling Dip A grade change or wide lowered area <strong>of</strong> the trail that directs water <strong>of</strong>f the trail.<br />

Roots Tree roots that stick up more than 2" or provide an obstacle<br />

Culvert A pipe or tunnel under the trail to carry water from one side to the other. Note size<br />

<strong>and</strong> materials.<br />

French Drain A drain system that allows water to seep trough a loose material into a below surface<br />

collection or removal passage.<br />

Switchback >120 degree turn in trail.<br />

Bridge Structure built to cross trail obstacles more easily.<br />

Stream crossing Crossing <strong>of</strong> unbridged stream or ravine<br />

Steps Stone or wooden steps built to ascend a steep hill.<br />

Log Ramp Logs piled on both sides <strong>of</strong> downed trees that bikes use to roll over <strong>and</strong> horses <strong>and</strong><br />

hikers have more a problem with than original downed tree. Note whether it is on<br />

Trail or beside the trail (View). Describe if a sound bypass could allow log ramp to<br />

t<br />

Cribbing Wall built near trail to help hold hillside on a steep slope.<br />

Tread Problem Ex: Bad root, slump(trail cross slope too steep or falling away), narrow<br />

width(compared to most <strong>of</strong> trail), tree down, hole or mud pit.<br />

Braided trail Multiple trails made by users to get around mud or a tread problem.<br />

Vista Good view from the trail<br />

Rock outcrop Rocks near the trail that provide scenic quality<br />

Camping area Area showing signs <strong>of</strong> camping <strong>and</strong> fires<br />

Utility Utility lines, powerline towers, sewer<br />

Gate Gate or chain that is or could be used to close a road or trail.<br />

Snag Tree hanging over the trail or in a way that it threatens trail users.<br />

Fallen tree Tree that has fallen across the trail.<br />

Unlawful activity Unlawful activity noted. Graffiti, Dump, litter, tree harvest, unauthorized use.<br />

T&E Threatened, endangered, rare or sensitive species near trail.<br />

OTHER Something not in this list that needs to be recorded.
