Reference Minimum Width<br />

Greenway Linear Corridor <strong>of</strong> private or public recreation l<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> waters, providing access to open VDOT Road Design<br />

space <strong>and</strong> recreational activities <strong>and</strong> linking rural <strong>and</strong> urban spaces (e.g. bicycle facilities,<br />

utility corridors, scenic roads <strong>and</strong> highways, ab<strong>and</strong>oned railroad rights-<strong>of</strong>-way, etc.)<br />

Manual<br />

Shared Use Path A bikeway physically separated from motorized vehicular traffic by an open space or<br />

barrier <strong>and</strong> either within the highway right-<strong>of</strong>-way or within an independent right-<strong>of</strong>-way.<br />

Shared use paths may also be used by pedestrians, skaters, wheelchair users, joggers<br />

<strong>and</strong> other non-motorized users.<br />

Shared Use Path Shared use paths are facilities on exclusive right-<strong>of</strong>-way <strong>and</strong> with minimal cross flow by<br />

motor vehicles. Users are non-motorized <strong>and</strong> may include bicyclists, inline skaters, roller<br />

skaters, wheelchair uses (both motorized <strong>and</strong> non-motorized) <strong>and</strong> pedestrians including<br />

walkers, runner, <strong>and</strong> people with baby strollers <strong>and</strong> people walking dogs. Share use paths<br />
