Thy charms submitted to a mortal<br />

Pursued the pleasures <strong>of</strong> the watery<br />

reign:<br />

And happier Peleus, less ambitious,<br />

led<br />

A mortal beauty to his equal bed!<br />

Ere the sad fruit <strong>of</strong> thy unhappy<br />

womb<br />

Had caused such sorrows past, and<br />

woes to come.<br />
