Blechnum fluviatile<br />

Blechnum fluviatile is a native fern found in high altitude forests in<br />

Northland, recorded from a number <strong>of</strong> sites in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>;<br />

Waipoua (SSBI O06/H015), Mataraua (SSBI O06/H013) and Waima Forests<br />

(SSBI O06/H010) all O06/001, Marlborough P06/042 (P06/H040) and Kaihu<br />

Forests P07/001 (SSBI P07/H001).<br />

Blechnum nigrum<br />

Blechnum nigrum is uncommon in Northland restricted to higher altitudes<br />

and dark gullies (L. J. Forester pers. comm.). Recorded in this <strong>Ecological</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong> from Waipoua (SSBI O06/H015), Mataraua (SSBI O06/H013) and<br />

Waima Forests (SSBI O06/H010) all O06/001, Marlborough P06/042 (P06/<br />

H040) and Kaihu Forests P07/001 (SSBI P07/H001).<br />

Brachyglottis kirkii var. angustoir<br />

Brachyglottis kirkii var. angustoir is a ground dwelling autumn flowering<br />

shrub with white daisy-like flowers. Recorded in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong><br />

from Waipoua (SSBI O06/H015), Mataraua (SSBI O06/H013) and Waima<br />

Forests (SSBI O06/H010) all O06/001, Marlborough P06/042 (P06/H040),<br />

Kaihu Forests P07/001 (SSBI P07/H001) and Trounson Kauri Park Scenic<br />

Reserve O07/005 (SSBI O07/H002).<br />

calystegia tuguriorum<br />

Calystegia tuguriorum is a vine with white flowers recorded from<br />

Maunganui Bluff O07/009 (Esler and Dobbins 1977) and Waipoua<br />

Forest part <strong>of</strong> O06/001 (AK 143712, SSBI O06/H015) in this <strong>Ecological</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong>.<br />

chionochloa conspicua subsp. cunninghamii<br />

Chionochloa conspicua subsp. cunninghami is a robust tussock<br />

resembling toetoe, recorded from the Waipoua coast, part <strong>of</strong> O06/001<br />

at Wairau, the only record <strong>of</strong> this plant in Northland (L. J. Forester pers.<br />

comm.).<br />

collospermum microspermum<br />

Collospermum microspermum is an epiphytic fan-shaped plant, much<br />

smaller and finer than its relative C. hastatum. It is found in wet and<br />

high altitudes mostly from western uplands (L. J. Forester pers. comm.).<br />

Recorded from all the large forests in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>; Waipoua<br />

(SSBI O06/H015), Mataraua (SSBI O06/H013) and Waima Forests O06/001<br />

(SSBI O06/H010), Marlborough P06/042 (P06/H040) and Kaihu Forests<br />

P07/001 (SSBI P07/H001) as well as Maunganui Bluff O07/009 (Esler and<br />

Dobbins 1977) and Trounson Kauri Park Scenic Reserve O07/005 (SSBI<br />

O07/H002).<br />

coprosma acerosa<br />

Coprosma acerosa grows on dunes and can be an effective sand-catcher<br />

however it is increasingly becoming rare as it is effected by disturbance<br />

and developement (L. J. Forester pers. comm.). Recorded during this<br />

survey from (006/027).<br />
