In this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong> records include Waipoua Forest (SSBI O06/<br />

H015), Mataraua Forest (SSBI O06/H013) and Waima Forest (SSBI O06/<br />

H010) all part <strong>of</strong> O06/001, Muriwai Bush O06/028 (SSBI O06/H019),<br />

Marlborough Road Forest O06/029 (SSBI O06/H023), Katui Scenic Reserve<br />

and Surrounds O07/001 (SSBI O06/H022), Trounson Kauri Park Scenic<br />

Reserve O07/005 (SSBI O07/H002), Maunganui Bluff O07/009 (SSBI<br />

O07/H001), Marlborough Forest P06/042 (SSBI P06/H040), Kaihu Forest<br />

P07/001 (SSBI P07/H001) and State Highway 12 Forest Remnant P07/026<br />

(recorded in 2001 during an ecological survey <strong>of</strong> this site).<br />

Phrixgnathus waipoua (Range Restricted)<br />

This small, litter-dwelling snail is endemic to the <strong>Tutamoe</strong> <strong>Ecological</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong>, and is known only from Waipoua Forest, and Waiotemarama at<br />

the western end <strong>of</strong> the Waima Range both part <strong>of</strong> O06/001.<br />

Punctidae sp. 21 (Range Restricted)<br />

This undescribed species is endemic to Maunganui Bluff O07/O09, where<br />

it inhabits native coastal shrubland, broadleaved forest, and coniferbroadleaved<br />

forest.<br />

Punctidae sp. 34 (Range Restricted)<br />

This snail is known from two forested sites in west-central Northland:<br />

Waimatenui, east <strong>of</strong> Mataraua Forest, near the eastern boundary <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Tutamoe</strong> <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>; and Mt Hikurangi, in the Tangihua <strong>Ecological</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong>.<br />

Punctidae sp. 5 (Range Restricted)<br />

This undescribed species is recorded only from Maunganui Bluff O07/009.<br />

No information is available on its ecology and abundance.<br />

Punctidae sp. 28 (Range Restricted)<br />

This minute litter-dwelling snail has a sparse distribution in western and<br />

central Northland. Within the <strong>Tutamoe</strong> <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong> it has been<br />

recorded from Waiotemarama and Waima at the western and northeastern<br />

ends <strong>of</strong> the Waima Range (part <strong>of</strong> O06/001) respectively. Elsewhere it is<br />

known only from Puketi Forest (Puketi <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>) and Mangataipa<br />

(Maungataniwha <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>).<br />

Punctidae sp. 29 (Range Restricted)<br />

This undescibed species is known from two forested sites in western<br />

Northland: in Waima Forest (part <strong>of</strong> O06/001), <strong>Tutamoe</strong> <strong>Ecological</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong>; and at Mitimiti, in the Ahipara <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>.<br />

Athoracophorus sp. 7<br />

This large, undescribed native slug was formerly known only from lowland<br />

to mid-altitude forest in Warawara Forest (Ahipara <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>), but<br />

has recently been found living in Trounson Kauri Park Scenic Reserve<br />

54 <strong>Natural</strong> <strong>areas</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tutamoe</strong> <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>
