aukaua anomalus<br />

Raukaua anomalus is an endemic shrub with zig-zagging, interlacing<br />

branchlets (Wilson and Galloway 1993). Recorded from Marlborough<br />

P06/042 (SSBI P06/H040), Waipoua (SSBI O06/H015), Mataraua (SSBI O06/<br />

H013) and Waima Forests (SSBI O06/H010) both O06/001, and Kaihu<br />

Forest P07/001 (SSBI P07/H001) in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>.<br />

rubus squarrosus<br />

Rubus squarrosus is a prickly, leafless, yellow scrambler with a scattered<br />

distribution in Northland, recorded in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong> from Waima<br />

Forest, part <strong>of</strong> O06/001 (SSBI O06/H010) and Maunganui Bluff O07/009<br />

(Esler and Dobbins 1977).<br />

Schizaea bifida<br />

Schizaea bifida is a comb fern recorded from Waipoua Forest, part <strong>of</strong><br />

O06/001 (SSBI O06/H015) in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>.<br />

Scleranthus biflorus<br />

Scleranthus biflorus is a perennial low mat-forming herb which is<br />

uncommon in Northland. Recorded from this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong> at<br />

Maunganui Bluff O07/009 (Esler and Dobbins 1977).<br />

Sparganium subglobosum burr reed, maru<br />

Burr reed is a fertile wetland grassy-leaved herb with distinctive spherical<br />

spikes, recorded from the Waipoua Forest, part <strong>of</strong> O06/001 (SSBI O06/<br />

H015) in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong>.<br />

Spiranthes novae-zealandiae<br />

Spiranthes novae-zealandiae is an orchid which is widespread but with<br />

a very local distribution (L. J. Forester pers. comm.). It has white to pink<br />

flowers. Recorded in this <strong>District</strong> from Waipoua Forest (AK 1380620),<br />

part <strong>of</strong> O06/001 under manuka and a 1986 record by Lisa Forester at<br />

Lake Waingata North O06/036 (SSBI O06/H028).<br />

triglochin striata arrow grass<br />

Triglochin striata is an indigenous wetland grass found in saltmarshes and<br />

lake margins. Recorded in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong> from Waipoua Coastal<br />

Strip and Taha Moana Scenic Reserve O06/015 during this survey.<br />

uncinia distans<br />

Uncinia distans is a hook grass which is uncommon in Northland,<br />

recorded in this <strong>Ecological</strong> <strong>District</strong> from Marlborough P06/042 (SSBI P06/<br />

H040) and Waipoua Forests, (SSBI O06/H015) both part <strong>of</strong> O06/001.<br />
