The Permanent Supportive Housing: An Evidence-Based Practice — Fostering Health,
the activities of service providers in Tennessee, Michigan, and Oklahoma as they
strive to address the needs of people with behavioral health disorders who were homeless.
Designed to complement SAMHSA’s award-winning Permanent Supportive Housing
Evidence-Based Practices KIT, the video demonstrates the importance of developing
effective assessment and treatment practices.
Federally Qualified Behavioral Health Centers (FQBHCs) create national standards for
community-based mental health and substance use treatment organizations, giving federal
status to providers that volunteer to meet FQBHC standards and clearly defining
treatment objectives and core service requirements. The Excellence in Mental Health
Act (S. 264) would create FQBHCs, initiating minimum service reimbursement based on
actual delivery cost, reimbursement that supports recruitment and retention of skilled
staff and additional treatment capacity to address Medicaid and private insurance expansions. These protections are
critical as states increasingly use Medicaid managed care for people with mental illnesses and those dually eligible for
Medicare and Medicaid. Join an lively discussion ― and find out how you can help.
