TUESDAY ‘D’ WORKSHOPS
D1 An Action Agenda: Closing the Gap
between Addictions Science and Practice
Room: Milano 4
How do we move beyond the rhetoric of a “war on drugs”
to meaningful dialog on how clinical and public health
interventions can integrate substance use interventions
into mental health settings and statewide public health
endeavors? Delve into examples of clinical standards,
licensing, training, payment, and public health interventions,
and learn how you can help move the needle.
Track: Addictions and Co-Occurring Disorders
Lloyd Sederer, New York State Office of Mental Health
‘D’ WORKSHOPS Tuesday, April 9, 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
D2 Emerging Models of Health: The State
of the Art
Room: Roman II
With the Supreme Court approval of the Affordable Care
Act, states across the country are moving forward with
health home models. Join in a succinct overview of existing
health home models and discuss the core elements
of successful health homes and key outcome measures.
Whether you’re an advanced “health homer” or a novice
just learning about the concept, prepare to return home
with all the tools necessary to evaluate or develop your
own health home model, without recreating the wheel.
Track: Behavioral Health-Primary Care Integration
of CPS; Lori Raney, Axis Health System; Kathleen Reynolds,
D3 Best Practices for Self-identified
LGBTQ Youth
Room: Milano 1
Very few culturally- and linguistically-prepared programs
exist to adequately serve the marginalized LGBTQ population’s
needs. Explore a recovery support model built
upon evidence-based literature and three years of field
research to better meet the needs of youth who selfidentify
as LGBTQ. Learn to reach and better provide recovery
support and services to youth and young adults
experiencing homelessness who self-identify as LGBTQ.
Track: Children and Youth
Wayne Centrone, Center for Social Innovation
D4 Implementing EBPs for Older Adults
and How to Pay for Them?
Room: Milano 2
The number of older Americans with mental illness is expected
to double by 2030. Has your organization implemented
evidence-based practices to serve older adults?
Do you know how to navigate Medicare and otherwise
get paid for older adults services? With an aging baby
boom generation, behavioral health organizations must
prepare to meet this population’s needs. Get to know
the evidence-based practices available and learn from a
program already sustaining a continuum of care for older
adults with behavioral health problems.
Track: Clinical Practices
