A skier going south,
a black dot on light grey ice
becoming smaller and smaller,
then vanishing, becoming one
with the vast grey expanse
of the lake in the advancing dusk.
I look at where it was, wondering
whether it vanished suddenly or gradually.
Was there a moment, a dot in time
where the dot in space
became nothing? Is Vanishing itself
something you can never see?
This dot in time.
Is there something between existence and non-existence?
A tiny dot, an instant,
a silent blinking of eyes
between still and no more?
