of the bullding which Is also occupied<br />

There haa been a great deal of<br />
acratchlng of heads going on around<br />
here for the past few days. We had<br />
begun to get uneasy about some of the<br />
fellows. However, they are only try-<br />
ing to get a slogan for the Kansas<br />
City Automobile Show. The winning<br />
slogan won a brand-new Gardner<br />
coach.<br />

We are glad to see "Hank" Lockard<br />
back with us after a short illness.<br />
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown recently<br />
spent ten days visiting rel.atives at<br />
Ellsworth. Kansas.<br />
The 4000 class engines. of which on<br />
the Wlchita sub-dlvision we have slx<br />
equlpped with boosters. have been almost<br />
a new thlng to the men on Lhls<br />
sub-divlsion and were a llttle diRlcult<br />
in the beginnlnu to get fa~liar with.<br />
These engines are commencing to make<br />
their mark. The average traln haul<br />
February 1 to 12, Inclusive, In through<br />
freight service w&s 1,626 tons against<br />
1,189 for the same period In 1927. The<br />
PueJ used per 1,000 gross tons<br />
miles February 1-12, was 207 pounds<br />
with stoker-fired en~lnes, aaalnst 213<br />
for the same perioa last %ear with<br />
hand-fired 1200 class englnes, which<br />
were considered very economical engines.<br />

bere ot her Pamlly. Miss Hayden has<br />
been relieving Marge durlng her ab-<br />
sence from the office.<br />
Mr. Plpkln was recently instructed<br />
by the judge on how to park hls car<br />
between the Yellow Traffic llnes. The<br />
prlce of said lnstructlone was valued<br />
at two dollare.<br />
We were certainly sorry to have to<br />
lose Mr. Jlm Wilholt. but we are thrill-<br />
ed with his promotion and we believe<br />
he was very much pleased to have the<br />
opportunlty to return to Fort Smith.<br />
Mr. Bill Jones has been assigned to<br />
the position of shop accountant. made<br />

result had quite-a few people here to<br />
testify at the hearing. Among those<br />
