EC/TH3300 Introduction to Missional Theology<br />
Survey of the contemporary discussion of the church’s mission, emphasizing the<br />
biblical foundation and formation of mission, the historical development of mission<br />
theology, and the ecumenical missiological debate in the twentieth century.<br />
Particular attention is given to the issues of globalization, contextualization, and<br />
the “end of Western Christendom.” The implications of missional theology for both<br />
the theory and practice of ministry are considered.<br />

TH3326 Classics in Reformed Spirituality<br />
This seminar will examine the theological dimensions of Reformed piety through<br />
the reading of classic texts. Students will be required to keep journals in which<br />
they will reflect on the ways in which Reformed theology gave rise to a distinctive<br />
understanding of the existence of Christians in this world. Among the texts to be<br />
read will be a selection from the following: John Calvin, the Heidelberg Catechism,<br />
Richard Baxter, Henry Scougal, and James S. Stewart.<br />

EC/TH3358 Ecumenical Theologies of the Church’s Mission<br />
Survey, beginning with the Edinburgh 1910 conference, of the twentieth-century<br />
ecumenical theological discussion and its distinctive landmarks in the areas of faith<br />
and order, life and work, and missional theology. The institutional ecumenical history<br />
(e.g. World Council of Churches, Lausanne Movement) as well as the role of<br />
bilateral dialogues are surveyed and subjected to theological analysis.<br />
