Introducing the Source Integrity Interfaces Using Source Integrity With Windows Explorer For more information on the Source Integrity extensions, see “Using Extensions” on page 197. In addition to the application window, Source Integrity commands are also available from the Windows Explorer. If you installed the Source Integrity Windows Explorer Extension when you installed Source Integrity, a Source Integrity sub-menu was automatically added to the Windows Explorer File menu. You can also access Source Integrity commands via the right-click context menu. If you did not choose this installation option, you can install the Source Integrity Extensions any time by double-clicking the setup.exe file in the root directory of the Source Integrity CD and choosing the Source Integrity Extensions option. The Source Integrity Web Interface The Source Integrity Web Interface allows you to access some Source Integrity functionality through a web browser. It is a true clientserver product, with the Internet forming the basic connection between the client and the server. It has three components: client browser plugin session applet The client component is a local server that generates the interface for the browser to display and provides local file access. It communicates directly with the Integrity Server over the Internet to access the version control services. The browser plugin starts up the client component of the Source Integrity Web interface. The session applet is a small applet that informs the client component of a browser page’s status. The look and feel of the product has been adapted to its web-based environment. Source Integrity users will find that the web-enabled version of the product provides easier access to common operations, and that commonly used operations have been simplified. 48 Source Integrity Professional Edition
Installing the Source Integrity Web Interface The Source Integrity Web Interface To install the Source Integrity Web Interface on a client machine for the first time: 1. Contact the Integrity Server with your browser. The administrator can tell you the URL. A typical URL of the Integrity Server may be of the form: http://machine_name.your_domain_name.com:/ A web page appears inviting you to download the Source Integrity Web Interface. 2. Download the Source Integrity Web Interface installation program (that is, save it to disk). 3. Close the browser. 4. Run the installation program following the instructions provided. 5. Restart the browser and connect to the Integrity Server. The Source Integrity Web Interface home page appears. 6. Add this page to your list of bookmarks (on Netscape) or favorites (on Internet Explorer) for convenience. To update an existing version of the Source Integrity Web Interface: 1. Uninstall your current version of the Source Integrity Web Interface by choosing Start > Settings > Control Panel and doubleclicking Add/Remove Programs. The Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box appears. 2. From the Install/Uninstall tab, select MKS Source Integrity Web Interface from the list of installed applications and click Add/ Remove. You are asked to confirm that you want to remove the MKS Source Integrity Web Interface and all of its components. Click Yes. 3.
