Aandgholf sorg vir sy eie pret en vermaak en met 9 putjies wat laatmiddag afgehandel word, gevolg deur ‘n heerlike ete voor die aand-gedeelte begin, gaan dit weer ‘n baie genotvolle dag wees. Slegs ‘n beperkte aantal spanne kan in die kompetisie speel en daarom word besighede of organisasies wat spanne wil inskryf aangeraai om dit so gou moontlik te doen. Enter the Magoebaskloof Cycle Challenge this weekend LOCAL cyclists can get ready for the challenging Pricewaterhouse-Coopers Magoebaskloof Cycle Challenge 2009 on May16. The race will be hosted by die Polokwane Peddlers. This is the ideal opportunity for both young and old to cycle in the scenic Magoebaskloof. The race will start at 07:30 on Saturday Morning 16 May. The start and finish of the race will be at the Merensky High School outside Tzaneen and the race will be timed by SS Timing. Three race distances will be on offer to cater for all levels of fitness (100km, 70km, 30km and 10km). The 100km will follow the challenging Magoebaskloof road to Haenertsburg. From Haenertsburg the cyclists will take the scenic George's Valley, around the Tzaneen Dam and back to Merensky High School. The 70km will follow the challenging Magoebaskloof road to Haenertsburg. From Haenertsburg the cyclists will take the George's Valley and back to Merensky High School. The 30km and 10km race will follow a route around Tzaneen Dam. Cyclists need to be a member of an affiliated cycling club to qualify for a CSA license. Mountain2Mountain soon THE second annual Mountain2Mountain National Road Cycle Challenge hits Tzaneen on July 15. Last year this event consisted of a 108km National Classic Road Race timed by Championship and a 34km Family Fun Run. This year not only is there the 108km National Classic and the 34 km Fun Run timed by WinningTime (timing agents of the Argus), there is also a mini Mountain2Mountain for Pre-School children on July 24 (and a race for primary-school children is also being planned - watch this space). Added to this the 108km race also has two extra categories - a junior and senior high school relay with Merensky and Stanford having indicated that they will be entering. The 108km National Classic is sanctioned by Cycling South-Africa and enjoys the same status and exclusivity as the Argus or the 94.7. Alle fiets geesdriftiges word uitgenooi om die dag saam met die gemeente te gaan geniet. Daar sal ook ‘n verskeidenheids stalletjies wees. Medaljes sal aan deelnemers oorhandig word wat die wedren voltooi. Daar is ook prysgeld op die spel vir eerste, tweede en derde plekke. Daar is drie kategoriee: 10km, 30km en 80km. The route for the 108km National Classic starts in front of Highgrove Lodge. Cyclists ride out of town and turn left up the Agatha Mountain en route to Coach House. At the top of the Mountain cyclists turn left again and carry on past Coach House, through Nkowankowa until they hit the Tarantaalrand Crossing. Here cyclists turn right towards Letsitele. At Du-Roi Nursery cyclists turn left on the Giyani Road and continue until they turn left again back towards Tarantaalrand/Deerpark. Cyclists ride past Bush Valley Chickens and at the T-junction turn left to Tarantaalrand and at the Tarantaalrand Crossing they turn right towards Tzaneen. Cyclists continue along this road past Zabana, Bosveld Lapa and the Showgrounds over the big intersection past Inskrywings : Saterdag om 06:00 by die wegspring ( NG Kerk Wolkberg.) Inskrywingsfooie: R10-00, R40-00, R50-00. Eerste 29 deelnemers sal the Sasol Garage until they hit the bridge leading up to Georges Valley. Here cyclists turn left and end up back at the finish line. The route for the Family Fun Run starts off in front of Highgrove. Riders ride out of town and turn off onto the Georges Valley bridge. At the top of the bridge cyclists turn right and ride over the bridge, through the crossing and turn left at on the Deerpark road. Cyclists continue around the Tzaneen dam and end up back at the starting point. This event will attract national attention and bring much needed revenue into our community.
