The genus Chelonarium is abundant in <strong>the</strong> Neotropics, Asia, and Australia. They live in moist to dry litter or under bark, and some may live in <strong>the</strong> refuse heaps <strong>of</strong> ants. FAMILY CALLIRHIPIDAE The family occurs in North, Central, and South America but seemingly not in <strong>the</strong> West Indies. SUPERFAMILY ELATEROIDEA 64. FAMILY ARTEMATOPODIDAE In <strong>the</strong> New World, this family occurs from North America, through México to South America. Larvae may feed on moss, lichens, or leaf litter. They are unknown in <strong>the</strong> Caribbean. 65. FAMILY BRACHYPSECTRIDAE These beetles live under bark in arid western North America, India, and Malaysia. A larva has been found in Miocene amber in <strong>the</strong> Dominican Republic, so <strong>the</strong>y might yet be found in <strong>the</strong> West Indies. 66. FAMILY CEROPHYTIDAE This family is known from Europe, eastern North America, and Central and South America.
