Jelinek did not see any material from <strong>Cuba</strong>. The data on <strong>the</strong> occurrence <strong>of</strong> P. helvolus in South America apparently refer to o<strong>the</strong>r species (Jelinek 1979). It occurs in México, eastern USA and Canada (Parsons 1943). According to that author <strong>the</strong> status <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cuba</strong>n species is doubtful P. helvolus Erichson 1843: 320 P. ferrugineus (L.) Chevrolat 1863b: 604; Gundlach 1891: 95 Distribution. <strong>Cuba</strong>, México to Argentina, USA <strong>Cuba</strong> localities. Collections. Stelidota Erichson 1843: 300 Taxonomy <strong>of</strong> Neotropical Stelidota is very confused and <strong>the</strong>ir revision is badly needed. Therefore it is difficult to give <strong>the</strong> exact distribution <strong>of</strong> particular species. Never<strong>the</strong>less, <strong>the</strong> list corresponds to <strong>the</strong> present knowledge.
