Dear Family,
This week your child is studying a Review Unit that covers words presented and studied in the
previous four units. Units 6 and 7 focused on words that contain the sound of the short i.
Units 8 and 9 emphasized words that contain the short o sound.
Spend some time each day helping your child
spell these short vowel sounds. Perhaps you
could find a place in your home where you
can work together and where you can keep

Here is an activity that you can do with your child to practice words in this week’s
Review Unit.
Rhymes Tell your child to pronounce each one of the words in the lists on this
page. Ask him or her to indicate which words rhyme. Then work with
your child to write two-line poems using the words.
For example: I saw my pet
Get caught in the net.
