Joe Barron is in his fifth year working with the <strong>Javelina</strong>s and his third year as a defensive assistant coach. He was the<br />
running backs coach for the previous two seasons. He played football at the collegiate level in his home country of Mexico<br />
before coming to <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>.<br />
Barron has served as the team’s video coordinator over the past few seasons. He has been integral to the success of<br />
the defense that has led the conference in rushing defense in three of the past four seasons.<br />
The 2010 season saw Barron deal with adversity among the corp of running backs when Fred Winborn was ruled ineligible<br />
after the third game of the season. Jonathan Woodson eventually moved into the starting role and flourished under<br />
Barron’s guidance earning second team all-conference honors.<br />
In 2009, Barron had a strong group of runners led by all-region running back Fred Winborn and all-conference back<br />
Connell Davis. Winborn led the conference in rushing yards and was the first 1,000-yard rusher since 2003.<br />
Daniel Oelschlegel is entering his second year as a graduate assistant for the <strong>Javelina</strong>s. This year, he moves into the<br />
running backs coaches role.<br />
Oelschlegel is a 2004 graduate of Calallen High School in Corpus Christi. He was a two-time all-district selection and<br />
earned all-Metro, all-South <strong>Texas</strong>, all-Bay Area and all-Region honors as a senior. He graduated from <strong>Texas</strong> A&M with a<br />
degree in Business and minors in Sport Management and History. He served as assistant to the Director of <strong>Football</strong> Operations<br />
in 2007 under coach Dennis Franchione and assistant to the Recruiting Coordinator as well as Offensive Assistant<br />
from 2008-10 under Mike Sherman.<br />
Tim Byerly is in his second year as a graduate assistant coach for the <strong>Javelina</strong>s. He will work extensively with the tight<br />
ends. In his first year, he had a strong group of tight ends led by Derek Tesch who earned all-LSC honors.<br />
Byerly was a four-year letterwinner for the <strong>Javelina</strong>s as a center. He made 41 starts in his career. After earning the<br />
starting role in the fifth game of the year as a freshman, he missed only one more game the rest of his career.<br />
Byerly earned his undergraduate degree in History from <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong> and is currently pursuing a Master’s<br />
degree.<br />
Steven Thrash joined the <strong>Javelina</strong> coaching staff in <strong>2012</strong> and works with the wide receivers.<br />
Thrash was the wide receivers coach at Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College in 2011. He had a pair of freshmen<br />
earn All-SWJCFC honors. He joined the NEO staff after being a four-year starter, three-time all-conference player and All-<br />
American at <strong>Texas</strong> Lutheran.<br />
During his playing years, He also volunteered as a student coach for the TLU JV team. Thrash’s brother, Judd Thrash,<br />
is a defensive backs coach at Lake Travis High School in Lake Travis, TX where they have won five consecutive <strong>Texas</strong><br />
state championships.<br />
The Hubbard, TX native graduated from <strong>Texas</strong> Lutheran in 2010 with a degree in kinesiology. He is currently pursuing<br />
a Master’s degree at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>.<br />
Jordan Stack joined the <strong>Javelina</strong> coaching staff in <strong>2012</strong> and assists with the defensive backs as well as special teams.<br />
Previously, Stack was a quality control coach for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United <strong>Football</strong> League. There he<br />
assisted with the defensive backs under current USC defensive backs coach Marvin Sanders; a unit that produced UFL Defensive<br />
MVP Stuart Schweigert. He also worked directly under former NFL defensive coordinator Tom Olivadotti as his quality<br />
control and assisted in all aspects of special teams for the Nighthawks, also as quality control. In addition to his coaching<br />
duties, Stack worked under Nighthawks Head Coach, and former TD Ameritrade CEO, Joe Moglia, as the Assistant Chief of<br />
Staff for the organization.<br />
As an undergraduate, Stack worked for the athletics department at the University of Maryland. He was a strength<br />
coach for the Terrapins for 2.5 years where he worked under Head Strength Coach Dwight Galt. He worked in all recruiting<br />
and practice efforts for the Terps under Head Coach Ralph Friedgen and Head-Coach-in-Waiting James Franklin. During<br />
the 2010 season, Stack was the Special Teams Quality Control for the Terps under Special Teams Coordinator Charles<br />
Bankins, where their average punt return ranked #3 nationally and their five blocked kicks led the ACC.<br />
Stack earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiological Sciences in 2010 from the University of Maryland-College Park with a 3.6 GPA, and is currently<br />
pursuing a Master’s degree in Kinesiology.<br />
