defensive line to offensive line during the spring. Previous: Gardner signed with Tyler<br />

Junior College coming out of high school. High School: Gardner earned all-district honors<br />

at Angleton High School. Personal: Gardner is studying Psychology and Sociology.<br />

2011: Gilbert red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Gilbert<br />

played at Galena Park High School. He had 37 catches for 738 yards and four touchdowns<br />

as a senior while earning All-District 19-4A honors. As a junior he earned all-district honors<br />

as a safety and made 150 tackles over his final two seasons. He blocked six kicks in his<br />

career and helped lead GP to the playoffs during his senior year. He holds the school<br />

record in the 110-meter hurdles. Personal: Gilbert is the son of Kathy Skinner and is<br />

studying Criminology.<br />

2011: Greathouse was on the team, but only appeared in one game. 2010: Greathouse<br />

red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Greathouse earned first<br />

team All-District 27-2A honors as a defensive tackle and center as a senior at Blanco<br />

HS. As a junior he recorded 12 sacks and was named the District 27-2A Defensive MVP,<br />

first team All-Area and third team All-State 2A. He led BHS to a Bi-District championship,<br />

Area championship, State quarterfinal appearance and State semifinal appearance in his<br />

four years. He was on the AB honor roll. Personal: Greathouse is the son of Bennie and<br />

Becky Greathouse and is studying Criminology.<br />

2009: Griggs red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Griggs<br />

was a three-year letterwinner in track at Van Vleck HS. He was a regional qualifier in the<br />

triple jump and long jump as a sophomore. He was a regional champion in the triple jump<br />

and regional qualifier in the long jump as a junior. He was the regional champion in the<br />

triple jump, 200-meters, 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay and finished third in the<br />

long jump at regionals as a senior. He was the state runner-up in the triple jump and state<br />

champion in 4x100-meter relay in 2009. Personal: Griggs is the son of Rodney and Helen<br />

Griggs and is studying Sociology. He is related to current NFL players Quentin Jammer<br />

and Johnnie Lee Higgins. He has had huge successes on the <strong>Javelina</strong> track and field<br />

team. He earned NCAA Division II All-America honors in the triple jump in 2010 during the<br />

indoor and outdoor seasons. In <strong>2012</strong>, he earned indoor All-America honors in the triple<br />

jump and was part of a Lone Star Conference champion 4x100-meter relay team. His<br />

biggest achievement came at the <strong>2012</strong> NCAA Division II Outdoor track and field championships<br />

where he won the triple jump title.<br />

Bobbie Hampton<br />

2011: Hampton started the first game of the season for the <strong>Javelina</strong>s, but was injured<br />

and granted a medical red-shirt. Previous: Hampton played in seven games (2 starts)<br />

at nose tackle at <strong>Texas</strong> Tech. He made his first career start at nose tackle against No. 18<br />

Oklahoma State. He made his career debut in the season-opener against SMU. Eastern<br />

Arizona College: Hampton posted 21 tackles (11 solo), five tackles for a loss and 3.5<br />

sacks in nine games played in 2009. He led the team to No. 2 national ranking in total<br />

team defense. He was a member of Fellowship Christian Athletes. 2007: Hampton redshirted<br />

his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> Tech. High School: Hampton played at Putnam City North<br />

High School in Oklahoma City, Okla. He appeared in just four games during his senior<br />

season of high school after transferring from Katy, <strong>Texas</strong>. He finished the season with 18<br />

tackles and three sacks. He was noted for showing impressive strength and leverage at<br />

the point of attack. He possessed rare athleticism for his size, he reportedly lined up in the<br />

backfield on offense as a lead blocker, also carrying the ball at times for the Panthers. He<br />

chose <strong>Texas</strong> Tech over Kansas State, Oklahoma and TCU. Personal: Hampton is the son<br />

of Brenda Hampton and is studying Sociology.<br />

2011: Harper appeared in six games as a long snapper for the team. High School:<br />

Harper played football at Nimitz High School. Personal: Harper is the son of Greg and<br />

Patty Harper and is studying Mechanical Engineering.<br />

2011: Hernandez red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Hernandez<br />

made 128 tackles en route to earning Honorable Mention All-State 3A honors as a<br />

senior at Ingleside High School. He was named the team’s defensive MVP and first team<br />

all-district. He led the team to four playoff appearances and was an all-state powerlifter as<br />

a senior. Personal: Hernandez is the son of Jose and Diana Hernandez and is studying<br />

Criminology with a minor in Kinesiology.
