2011: Bueno red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Bueno<br />
was named the <strong>Texas</strong> State 1A Offensive MVP following his senior year at Ben Bolt High<br />
School. He earned First Team All-State honors at quarterback and Honorable Mention<br />
All-State honors as a defensive back. He was named the District MVP on two occasions,<br />
the South <strong>Texas</strong> MVP in 2010 and an All-South <strong>Texas</strong> First Team defensive back. He set<br />
the school passing record as a sophomore. He threw for 2,460 yards and rushed for 1,314<br />
yards during the 2010 season. He completed 132 of 186 passes with 23 touchdowns and<br />
just six interceptions. He also ran for 24 touchdowns. He led Ben Bolt to a pair of district<br />
championships and one Bi-district championship. He also lettered in baseball, basketball,<br />
track and powerlifting. Personal: Bueno is the son of David and Cynthia Bueno and is<br />
studying Sociology.<br />

2011: Cardinal red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Cardinal<br />
earned First Team All-District 13-5A honors in 2010 at Klein Collins High School. He set the<br />
school single season rushing record with 1,807 yards for an average of 150 per game. He<br />
was named to the All-1960 Sun First Team and All-Greater Houston Honorable Mention by<br />
VYPE Magazine. He led Klein Collins to back-to-back District 13-5A championships and<br />
a pair of 10-0 regular seasons. He was a State 5A qualifier as a junior in the 4x100 relay<br />
and a two-time district champion in the 100 and 200 meters. Personal: Cardinal is the son<br />
of Mary Brinson and is studying Computer Science. He is also a member of the <strong>Javelina</strong><br />
track & field team.<br />
Victor Castro<br />

2011: Castro saw action against A&M-Commerce and was credited with a half tackle for<br />
loss. 2010: Castro was on the team, but did not see any time on the field. 2009: Castro<br />
red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: As a senior, Castro<br />
earned First Team All-District and Second Team All-Greater San Antonio honors. He led<br />
Warren HS to a Bi-District championship in 2007 and a District championship in 2008.<br />
Personal: Castro is the son of Herman and Dottie Castro and is studying Kinesiology.<br />

Jai Cavness<br />

2011: Cavness struggled with injuries throughout the season. He had a season high seven<br />
carries for 31 yards plus one catch for 12 yards against Lindenwood. TCU: Cavness<br />
appeared in seven games in 2009. He rushed for a season-best 29 yards on just four<br />
attempts at San Diego State. In 2008, he placed seventh on TCU with 134 yards rushing.<br />
He saw action in eight games and ran for a season-best 59 yards on 11 carries in the 67-7<br />
win over Stephen F. Austin. He scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 13-yard run for<br />
the Frogs’ final points of the game. He also tallied TCU’s final points with a 1-yard TD rush<br />
in the 44-14 victory at UNLV while totaling 51 yards, including a season-long 24-yard carry,<br />
against the Rebels. High School: Cavness played in the Under Armour All-America game<br />
after starring at Thurgood Marshall High School. He earned first-team all-district as a junior<br />
and senior and second-team All-Greater Houston Area and all-region. He was a member of<br />
the <strong>Texas</strong> Prep Extra All-Area Top 60 team. He was ranked in the top 60 for running backs<br />
in the nation by Rivals.com and Scout.com and was also ranked in the top 20 in the state<br />
and the top 10 in the Houston area. He made Scout.com’s Top <strong>Texas</strong> 100 Playmakers list<br />
and Dave Campbell’s Top 300 Playmakers Team. He was nominated for the prestigious<br />
Houston Touchdown Club Player of the Year award. He scored a touchdown in the East<br />
Meets West All-American Game. He was a team captain for three years at Marshall HS<br />
and was named his school’s Offensive Most Valuable Player after rushing for 1,205 yards<br />
and nine touchdowns on an 8.1 per carry average his senior year. He ran for 636 yards<br />
and five touchdowns as a junior. He closed his prep career as Marshall’s all-time leading<br />
rusher with 2,195 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 8.3 yards per attempt. Personal:<br />
Cavness is the son of Francois and Erica Carrire and is studying Communications. He is<br />
the cousin of Pro <strong>Football</strong> Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas.<br />

2011: Collins led the team with three interceptions and was third on the team with 56<br />
tackles. He had six tackles and returned an interception 49 yards for a touchdown at Midwestern<br />
State. The following week he returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown<br />
against A&M-Commerce. He made eight tackles and had a tackle for loss against Tarleton<br />
State. He had a season high 11 tackles, including seven solos against Abilene Christian.<br />
He had an interception at Incarnate Word. He forced a fumble and recovered the loose<br />
ball at Eastern New Mexico. 2010: Collins appeared in 11 games as a backup safety and<br />
special teams player. He had two tackles and broke up a pass against <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-Commerce.<br />
He added two tackles in the regular season finale against Southeastern Oklahoma.<br />
High School: Collins was a two-time all-district and academic all-district defensive back at<br />
Gonzales High School. He had 141 tackles and rushed for over 1,000 yards in his career.<br />
He led GHS to the State Quarterfinals as a junior. He was named one of the “Players to<br />
Watch” in Dave Campbell’s <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>Football</strong> magazine. Personal: Collins is the son of<br />
Donna Smith and is studying Sports Management.<br />
