Junior wide receiver Robert Armstrong is well on his to be becoming one<br />
of the best receivers in school history. He is rapidly climbing up the alltime<br />
charts in receptions, yards and touchdowns. His acrobatic ability in<br />
the air allows him to make the highlight catch, but he also has great size,<br />
strength and speed. 2011: Armstrong was named Lone Star Conference<br />
First Team at wide receiver and is known for his acrobatic catches.<br />
He started the first nine games of the year, but was injured on the first<br />
drive at Angelo State and missed the rest of the year. He was named the<br />
LSC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of touchdowns at<br />
Central Washington in the first week of the season. He had a receiving<br />
touchdown in each of the first six games of the year and finished with 51<br />
catches for 626 yards and 10 total touchdowns. He had five catches for<br />
103 yards and two scores in a win over Minot State. He caught seven<br />
passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns against West <strong>Texas</strong> A&M at<br />
Cowboys Stadium. He had a career high 10 catches for 175 yards in a<br />

win over A&M-Commerce. He still finished fourth in the LSC in receptions<br />
per game and sixth receiving yards per game. 2010: Armstrong<br />
earned LSC South Honorable Mention honors as a redshirt freshman.<br />
He scored his first career touchdown on a 7-yard reverse against <strong>Texas</strong><br />
A&M-Commerce and had two scores in the game. He had at least one<br />
catch in every game, including a season high seven receptions and<br />
one touchdown against #3 Northwest Missouri State in the playoffs. He<br />
scored twice against #7 West <strong>Texas</strong> A&M on catches of 25 and 27 yards.<br />
He had a game-winning 62-yard reception at Angelo State with 1:44 left<br />
in the game. He finished the game with exactly 100 yards receiving. He<br />
led the team with six touchdown receptions on the year. 2009: Armstrong<br />
red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School:<br />
Armstrong played both wide receiver and corner back for the Gobblers.<br />
He earned 3A all-state honors at both positions while also earning First<br />
Team all-district, all-area and all-region honors. He made 63 catches for<br />
1,128 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior. As a junior, he made 54<br />
catches for 1,017 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is on the all-time career<br />
receptions and receiving yards lists in <strong>Texas</strong>. He led Cuero to backto-back<br />
state semi-final appearances. He was an academic all-district<br />
selection. He earned third team all-state honors in basketball and was<br />
the Offensive MVP of the District. He played in the <strong>Texas</strong> Roundup<br />
All-Star as a senior. In track, he was a member of two <strong>Texas</strong> 3A state<br />
championship teams. He had personal bests of 6-8 in the high jump and<br />
23-2 in the long jump. He was also a member of the 4x100, 4x200 and<br />
4x400-meter relay teams. Personal: Armstrong is the son of Deborah<br />
Armstrong and is studying Kinesiology with a minor in Business.
