2011: Tesch was named Lone Star Conference First Team as a deep snapper and<br />

Honorable Mention as a tight end. He had two catches and at least 30 yards receiving in<br />

three games. He scored his first career touchdown at Midwestern State and finished the<br />

game with 36 yards receiving. He finished the year with nine catches for 128 yards. 2010:<br />

Tesch earned LSC South Second Team honors as a deep snapper. He played in all 12<br />

games of the season and had three catches for 20 yards. He was used more as a blocking<br />

tight end and was invaluable as a long snapper. 2009: Tesch red-shirted his first year at<br />

<strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: During his senior year, Tesch was the District 27-2A<br />

MVP and earned Honorable Mention All-State honors. He threw for over 1,600 yards<br />

with 27 touchdowns and no interceptions. As a junior, he was an all-district tight end and<br />

defensive back. He made 176 tackles with six interceptions over his final two seasons. In<br />

his three seasons at BHS, he led the team to a 35-5 record. He led the team to a Bi-District<br />

championship in 2006, an Area championship in 2007 and a state semifinal appearance in<br />

2008. He earned Academic All-State honors and the United States Army Reserve National<br />

Scholar-Athlete Award. Personal: Tesch is the son of Bill and Cheryl Tesch and is studying<br />

Kinesiology.<br />

Randall Toney<br />

2011: Toney had a productive season as the team’s backup running back. The hardrunning<br />

back went over 100 yards on two occasions. He rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown<br />

on 10 carries at Midwestern State. He finished the season on a high note with 25<br />

carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns after Jonathan Woodson went out with an injury<br />

at Eastern New Mexico. He averaged 5.6 yards per carry gaining 461 yards on the season.<br />

Previous: Toney went through spring practice at UT-Chattanooga, but did not compete<br />

during the season after playing a year at Dean College in Franklin, Mass. He led Dean to a<br />

10-1 record in 2008 and was named the MVP of the GCCC Bowl Game. He saw action in<br />

seven games, gaining 258 yards and scoring two touchdowns. High School: Toney was a<br />

2006 Tennessee Mr. <strong>Football</strong> Finalist while playing for Station Camp High School. He was<br />

named the 4-3A Region MVP, the All-County Offensive Player of the Year and First Team<br />

All-State 3A. He rushed for 2,100 yards on 181 carries as a senior and 1,006 yards as a<br />

junior. He led Station Camp to a 10-2 record as a senior. Personal: Toney is the son of<br />

Wendell and Lolita Toney and is studying Communications with a minor in Marketing. His<br />

father played defensive end at Middle Tennessee.<br />

2011: Vallejo red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Vallejo<br />

played football and basketball at Porter High School. He earned first team all-district honors<br />

and was the team’s defensive player of the year. Personal: Vallejo is the son of Jesus<br />

and Veronica Vallejo and is studying Kinesiology.<br />

Joseph Vela<br />

2011: Vela became a valuable offensive contributor as the season wore on. He had 14 of<br />

his 17 catches in the final four games of the year. He had a 20-yard touchdown run on a<br />

fake field goal and caught a touchdown pass in a win over A&M-Commerce. He had five<br />

catches for 42 yards and a touchdown in an overtime win at Angelo State. He finished the<br />

season with five catches for 36 yards at Eastern New Mexico. He finished the year with 17<br />

catches for 157 yards. 2010: Vela struggled to stay on the field as injuries allowed him to<br />

only play in four games. 2009: Vela was one of two true freshmen to see varsity action.<br />

He served as a jack of all trades throwing passes, catching the ball, running and punting.<br />

He had four yards rushing, 13 yards receiving and completed a pass for 45 yards in a win<br />

over East Central. In the LSC title clinching win over Angelo State he passed twice for 50<br />

yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to Damian Couthren. He served as the team’s<br />

pooch punter kicking four times and having each punt end up inside the 20-yard line. He<br />

had a long of 46 yards at #22 Midwestern State. High School: As a sophomore Vela was<br />

named the District 32-3A Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-Valley. He ranked<br />

among the state leaders with 11 interceptions and while making 32 receptions for 550<br />

yards. As a junior, he was a Second Team all-district quarterback. He rushed for 766 yards,<br />

completed 71 percent of his passes for 911 yards and accumulated 24 total touchdowns in<br />

leading the Bobcats to first undefeated regular season since 1973. As a senior Vela was<br />

the unanimous District 32-3A Most Valuable Player. He was named the Valley Offensive<br />

Player of the Year and took home Honorable Mention All-State honors. He rushed for 2,017<br />

yards on 202 carries with a long run of 83 yards and 20 touchdowns. He completed 70-of-<br />

157 passes for 914 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. He led the Bobcats to the<br />

Area round of the playoffs as a sophomore and junior and to the third round of the playoffs<br />

for the first time in school history as a senior. Personal: Vela is the son Walter and Sheila<br />

Vela and is studying Human Nutrition. Vela is the brother of former <strong>Javelina</strong> quarterback<br />

He had three tackles as a defensive back and also returned one kick for 11 yards. 2009:<br />

Washington red-shirted his first year at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M-<strong>Kingsville</strong>. High School: Washington<br />

was a two-time all-district running back earning First Team honors as a senior. He was<br />

named the team’s most valuable player and defensive player of the year. Personal:<br />

Washington is the son of Anthony and Alicia Washington and is undecided on his major.<br />

Other: Washington is a two-time track & field All-American for the <strong>Javelina</strong>s.
