However, my concern goes beyond training.
I am a believer that many of these accidents
are associated with the series of shortcuts
taken by employees, which in my opinion is a
cultural thing. I have seen many times workers
with a harness placed and with the lawnyard
hooked to the same bearing, rather to the light
line or to the anchor point. Other ocasions we
have discussed with some of these workers and
the answer is, it takes much time to put on or
it’s too complicated, excetera, etcetera.
On the other hand we can continue doing
our inspections, this is like PPE, I mean, when
the worker see the inspector, they follow
safety rules, but once the inspector leaves the
premises, they go back to the old safety
behaviors. We can go even further, we can post
fines and penalties to both employers and
workers, but since the magnitud of the sames
are so insignificants, they do not mind to pay
