Add ‘Support of a professional society is required’. • End of grandfather option 2010. • ‘It is considered by the NHSCSP that independent colposcopy should not be conducted in the NHS, unless by BSCCP certificated practitioners.’ Re-certification • Re-certification requires audit of activity but again not to be recognized necessarily by BSCCP. ‘The NHSCSP considers compliance with the BSCCP re-certification process to be highly desirable. Continued practice should be assured with CPD and regular audit. All colposcopists should have their practice discussed as part of their annual general appraisal.’
In general (continued) • All colposcopists in the team should be certificated through the BSCCP/RCOG training scheme and compliance with the recertification process every 3 years is highly desirable. • All colposcopists practising within the NHSCSP must see at least 50 new abnormal cytology referrals per year.
