Withdrawal from cervical screening • Women with severe cervical stenosis (usually result of previous surgery) may not be able to have cytology which is representative of whole TZ. • Options are: – hysterectomy – cervical dilatation – withdrawal from further cervical screening. • Cervical dilatation should be considered in all cases. For women with history of high-grade CIN/ cGIN or unexplained high-grade cytology then cervical dilatation/ hysterectomy recommended. Involvement of colposcopy MDT can be useful. Otherwise withdrawal suggested. • Local call/ recall service must be informed of management decision in all cases. • Withdrawal can be recommended by lead colposcopist by letter to local call/ recall service on behalf of woman as long as she agrees to withdrawal <strong>and</strong> both she <strong>and</strong> her GP receive written confirmation of withdrawal from cervical screening. • If woman declines withdrawal advised by local colposcopy service then cervical screening should continue.
