The colposcopy team should have operational and multidisciplinary meetings. Operational meetings should be arranged at least quarterly to discuss clinic policy, protocol problems, findings of audit/ peer review visits, and shortcomings against quality standards. Multidisciplinary meetings involving cytopathology, histopathology and colposcopy staff should be held at least every 2 months, and agenda should include relevant clinical issues.
Frequency of MDT meetings • MDT should meet at frequency that permits timely care of women. • MDT should meet 1/ month (best practice) but no less than 1/ two months (minimum standard). Attendance at meetings • All colposcopists should attend >50% of MDT meetings – to ensure timely management of difficult cases/ discordant results (minimum standard). • Attendance at MDT meeting should be recorded (minimum standard). Recording of MDT discussions • Results of discussion of each case should be recorded in patient’s medical records (minimum standard). – minutes of each meeting including outcome of discussion should be recorded. – letter describing recommendation for future care sent to colposcopist responsible for patient (minimum standard). • All cases cervical cancer must be reviewed at gynaecological cancer centre MDT (minimum standard).
