COMMUNICATION AND CONNECTIONS
2a. K-12 Broad Goal: Students will communicate their understanding of
mathematics.
PURPOSE: Reading, writing, talking, listening, and modeling, provide students with the
opportunity to integrate the language of mathematics into their world, and help
them to develop understanding. Actively exploring, investigating, describing, and
explaining mathematical ideas promote communication which leads to a greater
comprehension of mathematical concepts.
7-12 Building upon the K-6 experiences, in grades 7-12:
• Formulate questions, conjectures, definitions, and generalizations about, data,
information, and problem situations.
