duke will refuse nothing that you consider to be reasonable. And if you do not<br />

accept any of this, I shall, if you so require, show that within the city of Pavia itself<br />

there is general support for the pope. But let us now leave this issue. Evidently, we<br />

cannot force the pope to come to a place where he does not want to go, but it is<br />

sufficient for me to have removed the ground for him to reject Pavia and to have<br />

2.6. Pavia is also convenient for the council<br />

[43] It remains to show that also the council can move to Pavia with ease. For even if<br />

consider that the council is just as important. The council started this whole matter.<br />

So, it would be shameful to discontinue the council and meritorious to continue it. It<br />

is the responsibility of the council to select the location, to find the money, to send<br />

the triremes, and generally to have the final say concerning the completion of the<br />

whole the matter. So, the presence of both the council and the ope is required, and<br />

you must, therefore, choose a location which is convenient for both.<br />
