The Friends are an enthusiastic voluntary group which aims to improve the library by making suggestions about what the library could be doing, providing feedback on what is already happening, raising the library profile and fundraising. The group met for the first time on 12th January but has already submitted bids to Monmouthshire Housing Association (to plant up the garden beds surrounding the library and introduce new planters) and the Police Property Act Fund (for a workshop with young people to produce a mural for one of the exterior walls). The Friends have also taken part in National Libraries Day, helping library staff man a stall at the Caldicot market and will be celebrating World Book Night (www.worldbooknight.org) on Tuesday 23rd April 2013. There is always a lot going on in the library, including Baby Rhyme Times, Under Fives Story Times, Chatterbooks, Family History taster sessions, Knit and Natter, Novel Lovers, Learn Direct, and First Click courses.
