Eisteddfod 2013
St. David’s day saw
a very successful
annual eisteddfod
at Magor CIW
Primary School.
Pupils from
Nursery to Year 6
all joined in the
whole-school
Eisteddfod Year 2
celebration wearing
an array of Welsh
themed costumes. After a passionate rendition
of the national anthem, each class performed a
song or poem in Welsh. Awards were also given
out to each class for work in art, handwriting
and story writing. The ceremony concluded
with the traditional crowning of the Bard. This
year’s prestigious poet was Heidi McSweeney
from the Year 6 class.
Fair Trade Fortnight
Monday 25th February was the
beginning of this year’s Fair Trade
Fortnight campaign which seeks to
support farmers and other producers
in getting a fair price for their produce.
Pupils at Magor CIW Primary School
have been working hard to involve
parents and other members of the
community in their own campaign to raise
awareness and money for this worthy cause!
The school’s Eco Council devised a host of
activities spanning the fortnight including a
guest speaker from the Traidcraft organisation
and a presentation to local group, The Magor
Munchies. They also organised a Fair Trade
raffle, coffee mornings and competitions in
order to support the charity and to highlight
the importance of buying Fair Trade products.
