Arad County has 16700 children enrolled in
elementary school. 8.1% of this number means that
1435 children are not diagnosed with refractive errors
and are at risk.
Conclusion
8.1% of elementary school children (6-11 years
old) are not diagnosed with refractive errors.
That is a truth with medium and long term consequences.

The work of art blends with society’s aspirations,
with the need for progress and spirituality to
which brought their contribution not only specialists
in that certain fi eld but doctors as well, doctors
who had a profoundly humanistic approach, who
were aware that society need artictic creations.
If science is a reproduction, as accurate as possible,
the piece of art is a fi ltration of reality through
the inner fi lter of the artist, a decomposition and
recomposition, at the same time, of the surrounding
environment. The piece of art is a blend of the
artist’s vocation and the siciety’s aspirations whose
product he/she is. Art is the spiritual food being enlivened
by the will to communicate, to have an echo
in the conscience.

Medical terminology proves to be quite diffi cult
to understand by laymen, but reaching to understand
how affi xation works helps in getting a better
perspective. Affi xation is, by far, one of the most
used ways of creating new terms in medicine and
learning its rules can ease the hard path of those
who want to obtain a more profi cient <strong>medica</strong>l vocabulary.

UMF „Carol Davila“, Bucureşti
Grădina Botanică din Bucureşti a fost înfi inţată
ca instituţie în anul 1860, pe lângă Facultatea de
Medicină şi Farmacie, la iniţiativa doctorului Carol
Davila.
Structurată ca bază didactică şi de cercetare, a
fost realizată sub conducerea priceputului botanist
Ulrich Hoffmann, ca prim director al acestei instituţii.
Amenajarea noilor spaţii, care corespund amplasamentului
actual al Grădinii Botanice, a pre supus
construirea şi popularea primelor sere – uti li zând
modelul serelor Grădinii Botanice din Liège –,
construirea Institutului Botanic etc.
În anul 1994, odată cu prima Sesiune Naţională
de Comunicări Ştiinţifi ce Botanice, Grădina Botanică
bucureşteană primeşte numele Prof. Dr.
Dimitrie Brândză.
În lucrare ne-am propus să aducem în atenţie
transformările prin care a trecut această grădină,
personalităţile (în special medici: Dimitrie Brândză,
Dimitrie Grecescu etc.) implicate în conducerea şi
organizarea ei, frumuseţea plantelor şi utilizarea lor
în terapeutică, pentru că, atunci când studiul
plantelor a fost abordat într-o manieră ştiinţifi că, au
apărut grădinile botanice.
