LUX Analysis: This project uses a light dependent resistor (LDR) as a sensor of the light, to track as shown in the connection above. I used the two LDRs so as to calibrate them against the lux meter (scale of 0 – 2000 lux). By using the Lux and the average LDRs outputs, the relationship between the light and the resistance is found. Since the tracking control system was already in place, all I had to do was simply get the average readings of the two LDRs and compare with the behaviour of the LUX meter. Thus the relationship is as shown in the figure below: (A number of readings for the output voltage was taken with the corresponding lux values and a relationship with the least resolution between them was found using excel program). A photo resistor or LDR is an electronic component whose resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity. Error in the instrument used ( lux meter ,multi-meter) 6. Random error 7. Unknown noise 8. Loose Connections 9. Common grounding: This proved to be a major problem while grounding the system and led to impromptu readings especially with the temperature sensor and Zigbee nodes. The grounding essence was revealed when there was presence of grounding from Arduino and from D.C Power supply used to run the dimmer circuit in this project.
