CHAPTER 1 Introduction The Solar <strong>PV</strong> (photovoltaic) control System with Zigbee module, aim of the project is to utilize the solar energy, monitor the energy generated and incorporate its usage in the grid system. In this project I shall be using various sensors, controlling and display. However, in this project work the basic signal processing of various parameters are temperature, lux readings, panel position, and energy produced which are the key elements for the grid implementation. For measuring various parameters values, various sensors are used and the outputs of these sensors are converted to control the parameters of the panel and data analysis. The control circuit is designed using micro-controller (Arduino). The outputs of all the three parameters are fed to micro-controller. The output of the micro-controller is used to drive the <strong>PV</strong> panel. I shall be developing new control systems using advanced communication and information technologies to manage and use energy more intelligently. Intelligent control can allow energy systems to respond to their environment and make operating decisions based upon achieving specific energy goals. Statement of Problem Solar P.V systems are widely used in the world. In high altitudes (like Nyeri), receive minimal sunlight thus resulting to underutilization of P.V capabilities. It’s also hard to monitor the usage of the energy stored and its use in a household or institution thus reducing its efficiency. Reliable electricity in Kenya is an oxymoron. Blackouts have been a norm in Kenya due to inconsistent supply of energy (electricity) and high demands. Due to this, solar power can be implemented in the grid system for constant supply and energy efficiency. It is also a cheaper way to produce energy as solar energy is renewable.
