Enhance your knowledge of general machine<br />

shop practice and improve practical skills using<br />

specific, conventional machine tools. Machine<br />

Tool Operators may operate lathes, drilling<br />

machines, milling machines, grinders, or special<br />

purpose machines to machine a work piece<br />

on a production basis. Work tasks performed<br />

include lifting, positioning and securing work<br />

piece and work holding devices, interpreting<br />

mechanical drawings, inspecting work pieces<br />

to ensure conformance to specifications, and<br />

changing and sharpening worn or defective<br />

cutting tools.<br />
