Engineering Technology<br />

Fuel Technician Certification<br />

Gas Technician and Oil Burner Technician<br />

courses, designed to train participants for<br />

Ontario certification, are accredited by the<br />

Technical Standards and Safety Authority.<br />

Successful completion for certification requires<br />

at least 80% attendance and a minimum grade<br />

of 75% in both theory and practical for each<br />

course section.<br />

Upon completion of all four parts of the Gas<br />

Technician 2, the student will be permitted to<br />

book for their final TSSA examination.<br />

NOTE: Participants are also required to pay an<br />

Examination Fee of $210.00 for each level (GT-<br />

3, GT-2, GT-1) of certification.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

Applicants with Grade 12, especially<br />

Mathematics & English are best equipped to<br />

handle the curriculum. Experience working with<br />

gas and/or oil fueled equipment is a definite<br />

advantage.<br />

OIL BURNER TECHNICIAN<br />

You must successfully complete Modules 1 - 13<br />

for certification as an Oil Burner Technician 3<br />

(OBT-3). The OBT-3 is a prerequisite for OBT-2<br />

courses. NOTE: The Oil Burner Technician 3 &<br />

2 training is offered through day school training<br />

at this time.<br />

GAS TECHNICIAN<br />

You must successfully complete Modules 1 - 9<br />

to earn a Gas Technician 3 (GT-3) Certificate.<br />

The GT-3 certificate is a prerequisite for GT-2<br />

courses. You must successfully complete<br />

modules 10 - 24 to qualify as a certified Gas<br />

Technician 2 (GT-2). Each GT-2 part includes<br />

four 120- hour courses which must be taken.<br />

You must successfully complete Modules 26-31<br />

to obtain the GT-1. (GT-2 is a prerequisite).<br />

The purchase of books will be required;<br />

instructors will advise.<br />

Gas Technician 2 - Part 1 GOPTRE050<br />

Complete a 4 part course curriculum for<br />

certification as a Gas Technician 2 (GT-2) in<br />

Ontario. Focus on electrical, mechanical and<br />

electronic controls used in natural/propane<br />

gas heating. Prerequisite: Gas Technician<br />

3 certification. NOTE: Gas Technician 2,<br />

part 2 may be taken before part 1. You must<br />

successfully complete parts 1 and 2 before<br />

enrolling in parts 3 and 4.<br />

Train for certification as a Gas Technician<br />

2 (GT-2) in Ontario. Topics include natural/<br />

Technician 3. NOTE: Gas Technician 2, part<br />

2 may be taken before part 1. You must have<br />
