Order Within This Particular gcrics - The statements were presented
in the Identical order on F'onos A , Cr and D but were reversed on Form B , with
the last , fYrst , and the first, last , and so on . Since there were an odd
number of statements p statement No . 6 in this report (letter-e on the forms) .
remained 1.n the middle on all four forms .
For apparent reasons described in the above two sections , the
assumed effect of the order of presentation within the seri .es of statements
is best estimated by compsrl.ng the percentages in Co] . F'orm B with those
in Col . 6 . Form A .
The differences Sn the percentages between these two forms
are listed in (:ol . 91 A-D , Order .
The Percenta ee_-and Differences Between the Percentages - The
. . . .
following is submitted as a general guide to the statistical significance
of the data presented
: Since each of' the forms was used In approximately 1r200
Snterviewsr the standard error of a given percent obtained from any one form
is in most cases approximately 1-1/ 2 percentage points ; theref'ore , differences
between percentages obtained from two different forms are probably not
statistically significant vhen the difference Ss less than 4 percentage points .
In cases vhere the percentages being compared are less than 20 percent each
or more than &i percent each, differences of less than 3 percentage points
are probably not statistically significant .
AlthouyJi pereentages ere here given in terme : of "agree" or
"dieagree" : percentages are also available for each statem :nt indicating
the extent to Miich the position was "strong av" or "mi]dly" held . In addition,
although not presented here, ecores for each stetement based upon a five-point
scale .are also availaGle .
