Suits 1 to 38, entered by Prothonotary Daniel Carey, show little detail; they<br />
especially lack dates of filing.14 Beginning at case 39 (Febniary 9, 1878),<br />
entered in a different handwriting, information becomes much more detailed.<br />
This would be approximately the time that Allan Macdonald took the position of<br />
prothonotary.<br />
The registers of pleadings, a wmpfete set. span the period 1872-1 895.<br />
The first register has no front cover title, and the spine is tom away. The other<br />
six are entitled either B. R. (Banco Regina) In Equty, Register of Pleadings, or<br />
Q.B. (Queen's Bench) In Equify, Register of Pleadings. lncluded in the titles of<br />
the last five registers are the numbers of the volumes. Indexes of volumes two<br />
to seven were kept as running indexes. They exhibit the handwriting of the<br />
numerous administrative officiais who were involved with Equity record keeping.<br />
Suits in registers two, three, and four were originally indexed with page<br />
numbers, but later, case numbers were added, for example, "6 Monkman v<br />
Sinnott 696." The early pages of register four show both numberings at the<br />
same time, for example, "Man. Mortgage and Loan Company v McMillan<br />
2712623." Midway through the volume this ceases and only the case numbers<br />
appear from that point onwards. Also in register four an unknown official<br />
entered suit "4000" directty after "3099" and so the error occurred that caused<br />
the gap in the Equity numbering system. Register four shows on its inside front<br />
