During 2004, members took advantage of an attractive
opportunity: AmCham’s Company & Product Promotions
program. Early in the year, the Chamber and the U.S.
Embassy in Copenhagen entered into an agreement to help
AmCham members arrange customized events at the 75person-capacity
meeting room and superb restaurant, The
Diplomat. The service is exclusively for American subsidiaries
and companies representing American products. Costs are
based on the nature and size of the event.
Under the AmCham program, a number of such companies
have convened at the Embassy facilities on Dag Hammerskjölds
Allé in Copenhagen’s prestigious Embassy District.
Events have included a Marsh seminar, a Mattel news conference
and product launch, a SAS Institute company promotion,
a Dell company kickoff and dinner, an EMC company
promotion dinner, and an Elizabeth Arden sales incentive
meeting.

Organizers and participants pointed out the world-class gourmet
menu and American wine list of The Diplomat and its
Owner/Chef Keld Johnsen, which adds an excellent finishing
touch to events.
The comments of Birger Holdt, Nordic Sales Manager,
Elizabeth Arden, an AmCham Corporate Member, are telling.
His company’s event at the Embassy was a good experience
that brought value, Holdt says. The price was right, the
embassy setting and ambiance was “fun,” the food was
superb, and Chef Johnsen was “inspiring,” Holdt says. Besides
its practical benefits and logistical convenience, the event also
introduced his Danish employees “in a small way, to what the
U.S. is,” Holdt says. The friendly, authentically American
aspect was accented when U.S. Ambassador to Denmark
Stuart Bernstein stopped by and greeted Elizabeth Arden’s
employees at the event, Holdt adds.
