12 Message from the Executive Director As AmCham Denmark marks its fifth year of operations, it is with great pleasure that we present this year's Membership Directory & Yearbook, which is bigger and more useful than ever. I wish to thank our sponsors for their support in bringing this quality publication to our members. In the pages that follow, you can read about AmCham Denmark, the facts, details, and life of the Chamber, and also how you can utilize our structure, staff, business services, and activities to help you grow your business. The yearbook will introduce you to our growing system of committees, new services, and opportunities for your company through AmChams in Scandinavia & Europe. You will also find a comprehensive directory of our more than 240 member companies. Committees One of best ways to maximize your AmCham membership is by participating in our extensive committee system, which continued to grow this past year with the addition of See America-Denmark and Human Resources. This year also saw our Pharmaceutical Committee rejuvenated, thanks to the hard work of Daniel O'Day, General Manager, Roche. In the following year, the Chamber will be looking to the membership to identify other areas of common interest for new strategic committees. I encourage you all to participate. Services We will continue to assist our members in promoting their companies and products, using the US Embassy and The Diplomat restaurant as an exclusive venue as well as encouraging our members to make special member-to-member offers to fellow AmCham members, by direct mailings and packaging along with our publications. Of special note, we have developed a Mutual Benefits and Services Program with our AmCham colleagues throughout Scandinavia and Europe giving our members a competitive edge through access to a local business network in these countries. As we continue to grow, please know that networks do not grow by themselves. The AmCham network is no exception. AmCham Denmark advocates and supports unrestricted trade and investment between our two countries, leading to a healthy, open, and productive business climate. With more than 240 member firms, AmCham Denmark represents the business interests of American firms located in Denmark and also acts on behalf of its many Danish members that maintain significant commercial interests in the United States. AmCham Denmark receives no subsidy from any governmental body and relies solely on membership dues to cover its operating expenses. 13
14 What We Do AmCham Denmark serves as the collective voice of American-Danish business in Denmark and takes action to further those interests. AmCham Denmark works to: • Promote and facilitate better business relations between the U.S. and Denmark • Provide essential information about doing business in these markets • Create a business, social and policy forum for its members • Provide profiling opportunities for members’ products and/or services • Bring business leaders together to facilitate networking in both countries • Foster good corporate citizenship to benefit the members’ communities • Produce informative publications such as regular newsletters and an annual Membership Directory Membership AmCham Denmark membership is open to both major corporations and small businesses (American, Danish and others) that have direct links to American business interests. Approval of membership resides with the AmCham Denmark Board of Directors. AmCham Denmark offers three membership levels: Patron, Corporate, and Associate. Patron Membership Voting membership is open exclusively to American companies that wish to support AmCham Denmark to its fullest. Benefits include: • Eligibility for election to the AmCham Denmark Board of Directors • Exclusive invitations to special Patron member events • Invitations to all regular events and activities for up to five company representatives • Participation in all Executive Forum events • Eligibility for chairmanship of AmCham Denmark committees • Special profile with a company logo in the Annual Chamber Membership Directory • Corporate profile and news features in Chamber newsletters and publications • Professional assistance from Chamber staff in organizing corporate events • Listing on the chamber website with company logo and link Corporate Membership Voting membership open to American, Danish, and other companies. Benefits include: • Eligibility for election to the AmCham Denmark Board of Directors • Invitations to all regular events and activities for up to two company representatives • Participation in Executive Forum events (by invitation) • Eligibility for chairmanship of AmCham Denmark committees • Listing in the Annual Chamber Membership Directory • Listing on the Chamber website with link Associate Membership Non-voting membership open to small businesses and organizations with less than 10 employees.
