Fantastisk dokumentar med utgangspunkt i gjenforeningsturneen
til kultbandet The Pixies. Bandet
ble startet i 1986. Seks år senere ble de oppløst. I
2004 kom The Pixies sammen igjen.
The
«We don’t
talk to each other that much,» sier Frank Black. «Not
because we don’t like each other, it’s just the kind
of people we are.» Teknisk vellaget, med bra foto og
meget bra konsertlyd, loudQUIETloud gir et menneskelig
ansikt til et svært spennende band.
The band The Pixies started out in 1986. Six years later they
disbanded. In 2004 The Pixies reformed. The film follows the
band before and after their very successful reunion tour, and
shows the different members and the friction between them
that might explain the reason for their complicated break-up.
The Pixies have previously shun the media but the filmmakers
are now given full access to the band before their first
tour for over ten years and follow them on their rehearsals in
Los Angeles, through their preparations and when they hit
the road. “We don’t talk to each other that much,” says Frank
Black. “Not because we don’t like each other, it’s just the kind
of people we are.” Technically well made, with crisp photography
and excellent sound, loudQUIETloud gives a human face
to a very exciting band.
SANCTUARY – LISA GERRARD
intrikate detaljer.» (Lisa Gerrard)
Kultbandet Dead Can Dance, som ble formet i
Melbourne i 1981, har særdeles hengivne fans, og
selve sentrum for tilbedelsen er Lisa Gerrard. Stemmeprakten
klørne i henne.
“Music is a place to take refuge. It’s a sanctuary from mediocrity
and boredom. It’s innocent and it’s a place you can lose
yourself in thoughts and memories and intricacies”. (Lisa
Gerrard)
The cult band Dead Can Dance was formed in Melbourne
back in 1981, has very devoted fans, and the center of their passion
is Lisa Gerrard. Her voice can reduce even the toughest
and most hardened fan into a weeping pile of emotions, and
unsurprisingly the film industry quickly snatched her up after
Dead Can Dance called it quits in 1998. In this beautiful and
sensitive documentary, filmmaker Clive Collier offers up an
intimate and engaging portrait of this unique, secretive and
reflective artist – both through her own words, and through
observations from a cadre of famous creative partners in the
music and film industry.
briljante kunstneren i arbeid.
As one of the world’s preeminent photographers, Sally Mann
creates art that challenges viewer’s values and moral attitudes.
She first came to international prominence twelve years ago
with a series of complex and enigmatic pictures of her own
children. Filmmaker Steven Cantor captured the making of
that series in an award-winning short film. Here he returns
to follow the creation of Mann’s latest project, spanning five
years, in which death and decay take on an innocence of
haunting fragility. Along the way, a vibrant, indelible portrait
of this artist-at-work is revealed.
